Minimum Education and Experience:
Completion of high school and two years experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library.

Specific competencies are required for the different banded levels and roles. This position is being recruited for at the Advanced Competency Level under the Career Banding program. The hiring range for this position is $24,605 - $41,760. The salary grade equivalent for this position is 63. ************************************************************************************************************************************************** The Cataloging Specialist works in the Cataloging Unit within the Resources Management Department of the Health Sciences Library and reports to the Cataloging and Metadata Coordinator. This position performs copy and original cataloging in a variety of formats; investigates and resolves data errors or inconsistencies in the library catalog; plans and manages projects; serves as primary trainer for new staff and student assistants; provides general support for cataloging unit staff and for the library. This position requires work experience in a library cataloging department. This position requires the ability to perform detailed and precise work. The hiring supervisor is Lee Richardson.

Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience using AACR2, OCLC, NLM Classification and MeSH; familiarity with the Millennium library catalog; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; effective prioritizing of tasks and the ability to handle multiple tasks; ability to work independently.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements:
Ability to type on a computer keyboard, sometimes for extended periods; ability to move a fully loaded book truck, approximately 30-50 lbs.
