DIRECT HIRE POSTING (NO TEST SCORE REQUIRED) - This position is with
the Office of State Library, Technical Services, located in Baton
Rouge, LA. This position may be filled either as a Probational (new
hire) appointment or by the promotion of a permanent classified state
employee of the Department of Culture, Recreation, & Tourism. There
are two appointment types; however, there is only one vacancy.

The Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism will create a list of
eligible applicants only from the people who respond to this posting.
We will not obtain a list of eligibles from the Department of Civil
Service. Applications MUST be received by 4:30 PM on the closing date
of this announcement if you wish to be considered for this position.

DESIRABLE REQUIRMENTS: Incumbent will serve as head of Technical
Services department. Expertise with MARC, LCSH, OCLC, AACR2R, DDC21,
Horiton, metadata, digitizing, cataloging and management of electronic
resources are highly desirable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree in library science from a
college or university accredited by the American Library Association
followed by five years of professional library work, two years of
which must have been at the supervisory level over professional
library personnel.

Note: Pre-employment drug testing is required for all prospective
employees.
