Methodist University is situated on six hundred acres near the Carolina Sandhills golfing region, two hours from the coast, and in North Carolina’s fourth largest metropolitan area. The University serves approximately 2,100 students—1,500 in the day program and 600 in MU at Night, the university's evening and weekend program. The university offers 65 fields of study, including three masters degree programs. Additional masters degrees are under consideration. Salary: This is a twelve-month non-tenure track faculty position; salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications: Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited program; 1 to 2 years of professional experience in circulation or document delivery departments. Demonstrated successful management and supervisory experience including collaboration with others and teamwork. Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal communication and training skills. Preferred: Experience in an academic library setting. Three years of professional experience in circulation or document delivery departments. Experience with the Voyager integrated library system. Familiar with e-reserves and support of distance learning students. Familiar with PHP and Javascript, webpage design and Dreamweaver.
Duties: Responsible for the daily operation of the library, responsible daily supervision of all circulation hourly staff; some weekend work for training and supervision; responsible for teaching bibliographic instruction classes (some evenings and weekends); responsible for participating in reference service 10-20 hours weekly; responsible for collection development, serve as a faculty liaison for designated departments. Participate fully in campus faculty responsibilities. Provide leadership, coordination, strategic planning, and staff supervision for unit. Coordinate fiscal and registration processes with appropriate campus offices. Manage the security and maintenance of the building in conjunction with appropriate campus departments.
