Nicholson Memorial Library System
Garland, Texas

Position Description: To provide quality library and information
services, professional reference, and reader's advisory services to
library users. Provide reference assistance and perform research;
provide reader's advisory; assist patrons in use of the public
computers and related software, the catalog, the Internet, and the
print management system. Plan and present library programs for adults
as assigned. Provide instructional classes on the Internet and other
electronic resources. Make presentations of library services to
outside organizations as assigned. Other duties as assigned.

Salary Comment: $36,732.80 to $47,756.80 DOQ

Education: Master's Degree in Library Science from an American
Library Association accredited college or university. Public library
experience is preferred.

Experience:
* Knowledge of current practices in public libraries, including
reference services, reader's advisory, and library technology.
* Knowledge of electronic resources. Strongly prefer familiarity with
electronic services, including online databases and Web 2.0, or
advanced level graduate school coursework in library technology.
* Ability to work cooperatively and congenially with others.
Resourcefulness, enthusiasm, tact, judgment.
* Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, handle
customer issues and complaints appropriately, and work closely with
others as a team.
* Have close visual acuity to preparing and analyzing
data and figures, view a computer monitor, perform extensive reading,
operate a vehicle, maintain equipment, and maintain work area
appropriately.
