Position Summary:
This is a supervisory position under the administration of the
Division Head of Public Services. This position is responsible for the
daily operation of the Youth Services Programming Department and the
supervision of the Youth Services Coordinators.

The position of Youth Services Supervisor is assigned to Pay Grade 89
on the Library's Classification and Pay Scale. It includes one night
per week and one weekend per month. Any one position of this class may
not include all duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all
duties which may be found in positions of this class.

* Responsible for planning, preparing, and conducting library
programming for all youth;
* Assists with planning, preparing, and conducting other library programs;
* Maintains records and prepares reports; monitors programming budget;
responsible for writing and implementing grants and proposals;
* Responsible for conducting regular workshops for the library's
designated youth facilitators;
* Supervises the implementation of activities and programs of the
Youth Services Coordinators;
* Responsible for outreach to the community through the planning and
execution of cooperative programs with other agencies and groups;
* Assigns work schedules; and maintains personnel records and reports;
* Serves on system matrix teams;
* Works nights and weekends as necessary; serves as back up Branch
Manager; and
* Other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
* Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and
procedures, as well as considerable knowledge of materials, reference
works, and resources; expertise in both the classic and modern
dimensions of juvenile literature;
* Ability to use, and train others how to use all audio-visual
equipment, online resources, wireless and other library technologies;
* Ability to plan, initiate, develop, and evaluate special library
programs and services; ability to select,motivate and develop staff;
ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions;
* Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and the
general public; ability to make decisions recognizing established
policies and to use resourcefulness, tact, and courtesy in meeting new
problems and dealing with library patrons;
* Proficiency in the use of the library's staff and public interface
software; and sufficient skill in the use
of general office and library equipment; and
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Powerpoint.

Required Training and Experience:
* Master's Degree from an A. L. A. accredited library school, and
* Two years professional library experience in a supervisory or
management capacity; or
* An equivalent of experience indicating an ability to assume
responsibilities involved.

Salary Range:
* $18.69/hour and up, depending on qualifications.
