Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania invites nominations and applications by dynamic leaders for the position of Director of Library Services (AA #03-7-215). Located in scenic East-Central Pennsylvania, Bloomsburg University is one of 14 members of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Bloomsburg University offers more than 80 undergraduate and 18 graduate programs of study in the arts and humanities, sciences, education, allied health and business and is nationally ranked as one of the top regional public institutions of higher learning by U.S. News and World Report. Over 8000 undergraduates and 800 graduate students are enrolled in 4 colleges. The Harvey A. Andruss Library, completed in 1998, has an operating budget of approximately $875,000 as well as access to more than 400,000 volumes of books, bound periodicals, and government documents; 2 million microfilms; over 45,000 online periodicals, approximately 400 current print journals, and 32 newspapers; and over 130 online research databases. Responsibilities: The Director of Library Services is responsible for providing leadership, planning and management for the University's Library in support of the University's information needs, research and instructional programs and the information literacy of its constituents. Reporting to the Assistant VP of Technology and Library Services, the Director works with academic and technology leadership teams, departments, library faculty and staff to provide appropriate information resources and support services to all library patrons. The Director supervises 10 library faculty and 11 technicians and assistants. The Director serves as a member of the Deans' Council and also represents the Library on regional, State System of Higher Education, and statewide panels to plan and implement enhanced resources and services for the University community and the citizens of the region.

Qualifications: The following are required characteristics of the successful candidate:

* Master's degree in library and/or information science, information systems, digital information management or a related discipline from an ALA accredited institution;
* Excellent managerial and leadership skills;
* Administrative experience related to the delivery of innovative library services;
* Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills;

* Evidence of a commitment to the integration of technology into the delivery of library services;

* Demonstrated understanding of emerging trends and issues in academic libraries;

* Evidence of strategic planning experience ;

* Budget management experience;

* Experience as a practicing librarian preferred;

* Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations preferred.
