General Purpose
Yale University Library seeks an experienced Electronic Collections Librarian to assume both a leadership and liaison role in working with staff from all areas of the Library to support electronic collections development. The Electronic Collections Librarian will provide support as needed across the library system, including particularly selectors, but also technical services staff in Acquisitions and Cataloging & Metadata Services. This position will report to the Electronic Collections Services Group team leader.

Essential Duties
Selection Coordinator for cross-disciplinary electronic resources:
* Works across the entire Yale University Library (YUL) system, serving as Selector/Collection Unit Coordinator for library electronic resources that cross more than two libraries or subject areas.
* Assists with the appropriate budget requests and expenditure of the CERF (Central Electronic Resources Fund) budget - currently approximately $900,000 and growing.

Key participant in planning, and implementing library wide e-resource policy and selection decision-making:
* Participates on CoDGeR (Committee for Digital General Resources), a cross-library representative group, developing agenda items and finding timely topics with an aim to decision-making.
* Shares responsibility in consensus building and documentation of CoDGeR decisions and policies.
* Leads exploration of overarching issues in the selection and care of electronic resources.
* Develops and/or manages the development of best practices for electronic resources.

Provides the provision of significant services and knowledge in support of electronic resource acquisitions across YUL:
* A key participant and/or leader in understanding and developing the best ways to manage the lifecycle of major interdisciplinary e-journal packages and databases at YUL.
* Monitors trends in emerging technologies and licensing.
* Keeps current with developments, producers, and vendors of electronic products and services.
* Participates on the staff license review, negotiating, and compliance processes, for delivery to the Associate University Librarian (AUL).
* Coordinates authentication and authorization issues for e-resources, communicating as appropriate with vendors, selectors, AUL, and others.
* Participates as appropriate in e-resource trouble shooting activities.
* Leads ERM (Electronic Resources Management system, Verde software) library-wide activities, which is delegated to others and/or coordinated across the YUL system.

Communicates across YUL about electronic resources broad issues:
* Funnels resources and renewal information about shared e-resources to relevant stakeholders as appropriate to ensure appropriate action.
* Provides training and information as needed across the library system, including selectors as well as technical services supporting units such as Acquisitions, CMS.

Works with Electronic Collections Services Group team leader to nurture effective relationships with e-resource suppliers and publishers, for the benefit of the YUL system. Expected to be professionally active and to serve on select Library-wide committees. May be required to assist with disaster recovery efforts. May be assigned to work at West Campus location in West Haven, CT.

Qualifications
Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program of library and information science; at least two years of experience supporting electronic resource activities. Candidates appointed to the rank of Librarian III must demonstrate at least five years of relevant experience and professional achievements. Appointment to the rank of Librarian IV requires at least eight years of relevant experience and professional achievements. The position requires knowledge of the complex, ever-changing electronic publishing environment and scholarly communications issues. Must have the ability to work with a varied user groups and function effectively in a team environment and in a complex and culturally diverse organization. Excellent oral and written communication and training skills are required. Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills are required. Previous activities in at least some of the following areas are required: using and instructing in the use of information technologies, developing MS Access queries and reports, reviewing and identifying issues with license agreements for electronic resources, using an Integrated Library System and/or an Electronic Resource Management system.

Preferred: Experience supporting an OpenURL resolver, preferably ExLibris SFX, knowledge of scholarly communication industry norms and practices of information technology, experience providing troubleshooting for problem reports, familiarity with project management, skill in "translating" between the world of electronic resources and traditional library formats.

Rank and competitive salary will be based upon the successful candidate's qualifications and experience (min: 59,000).
